Lori H. Poppinga - "Let us consider how to stir up one another to good works..."

Being the mother of eight children and the wife of a pastor, I have a lot of great material, I mean life experience to draw on for my speaking ministry. I love sharing my message and meeting other women in various stages of life. If you have a need for a speaker for a mother/daughter banquet, MOPS, Christmas Tea or other event, I would cherish the opportunity. Below you will find a list of topics I have spoken on in the past. If you do not find a topic to fit your theme, contact me and I will be happy to work with you.
In the last year, I've spoken at a variety of secular and Christian venues:

I have contributed to a number of books, magazines, and websites:

Stir Up

Stir up trouble. Stir up a hornet’s nest. Stir up the wrath of God. Stir up….good works? I had never thought of it in the positive. I had only seen the negative phraseology. But now that I’m aware of the positive: Stir up one another to good works, I want to do it. How does one go about stirring up others to good works? Good question. I’m guessing pretty much the same way one goes about stirring up trouble.
First, you do something good. Do something really good. Watch a friend’s child. Make a meal for your local pregnant person. Read to an elderly friend who is losing their eyesight. Visit a person who cannot leave their home or is in the hospital. Send a note of encouragement to a co-worker. Say a prayer with your family. The list is endless.
Second, smile like you know something no one else knows. This will peak people’s curiosity. Giving them pause to wonder just what you have been up to and when they find a note/meal/scripture of encouragement on their desk/doorstep/mailbox they will smile, too.
Third, act like you got away with something. Giggle behind your hand. Peek over your shoulder every five minutes. Sooner or later someone will ask what you’ve been up to and then you can stir up one another to good works.
Lastly, encourage someone else to act the way you do. Whether doing something good or bad, it is always more fun with friends. Encourage a friend who is wondering what she can do to share the love of Christ with others. Give her some ideas or ask her what she has in mind and urge her to do it. Stir her up to good works.
While stirring up trouble might come naturally, stirring up one another to good works can be habit forming as well. Take a look around you and see how you can do good works for Jesus and stir up others to do good works for him as well.

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without  wavering,
for he who promised is faithful.
And let us consider how to stir up
one another to love and good works,
not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some,
but encouraging one another,
and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
Hebrews 10:23-25 (ESV)
